Within participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan at the World Investment Forum of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which took place in Geneva, a briefing dedicated to investment potential of Uzbekistan was held.

The event was organized by Permanent Office of Uzbekistan at the UN in cooperation with Uzinfoinvest agency and Joint Chamber of Commerce “Switzerland-Russia and CIS countries”, Jahon news agency reported.

Business circles of Geneva, diplomatic corps, international organizations and mass media participated in the event.

The participants received information on modern economic development of Uzbekistan, measures directed at modernizing and re-equipping industrial enterprises, improving investment climate, developing social sector and infrastructure.

They also familiarized activities and opportunities of special industrial and economic zone Navoi, special industrial zone Angren and Jizzakh, as well as preferences provided to investors at these zones.

A video film on economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan was demonstrated at the event.

Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Herculis and Joint Chamber of Commerce “Switzerland-Russia and CIS countries” Jean-Paul Peria said that the business circles of Switzerland will visit Uzbekistan in near future to study opportunities for mutual beneficial partnership.

He said that the chamber is planning to contribute to strengthening of the Uzbek-Swiss trade-economic and investment cooperation. He said that the briefing participants underlined that it is necessary to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan.
